The Transgenic and Embryonic Stem Cell Core
The Research Institute at
Nationwide Children's Hospital
INTRODUCTION
The Transgenic and Embryonic Stem Cell Core Facility assists intramural and extramural investigators with the production, maintenance and storage of genetically engineered mice using techniques including pronuclear microinjection of DNA, ES cell gene targeting, blastocyst injection of targeted ES cells, mouse strain rederivation by embryo transfer, de novo ES cell line generation from embryos and cryopreservation of both embryos and sperm.
The Core Facility can also assist with more specialized techniques and train investigators to do their own experiments. The core has achieved a germline transmission in 100% of clones targeted within the Core ES cell facility.
Our resources include several lines of mice used for manipulating the mouse genome and/or tracking cell lineages as well as protocols and reagents for mouse model generation. The core is staffed by three trained research associates and currently the time between project request to commencement is typically less than 2-3 weeks Investigators can request mice or services by submitting the form found on the Orders page or contacting us.
